be the old linden …

On March 21, 1779, at six o’clock in the evening, a huge fire engulfed the square of my village, which burned 49 burgher houses, 34 small houses, sheds, stables, barns and granaries. The inhabitants thus lost all their property. In the next 16 years, new, already bricked houses were built. As a reminder of this great tragedy, a linden tree was planted in the square.
